From a gold-plated toilet to a king sized bed and even a gym, these astonishing pictures show the lavish interior of one of Vladimir Putin’s private jets.

This was the jet that Putin used during his historic meeting with Trump in the Finnish capital, Helsinki, July 2018. Donald Trump also boasts of his own private jet – Air Force One, which is worth $1billion.

Here we take a look inside both jets to see how they compare.

Most of the interior on board the plane is finished in gold trim, including the toilet and sink in the bathroom

The aircraft is a wide-bodied, long-haul airliner that is easily distinguishable from the passenger model by its extended fuselage.

While the exterior of the aircraft looks largely the same as the basic model, the cabin is lavishly decorated with tapestries and gold accents.

The furniture and interior décor are finished in the neoclassical style and the planes are equipped with a spacious office and a huge conference table with a gold trim that is surrounded by cream leather seats.

The aircraft was constructed by Voronezh’s airline company and has a special coating that makes it less visible to radar.

The Russian government has also installed an advanced communication system on board that allows the aircraft to act as a management centre capable of carrying out the prompt commandment of troops in case of unexpected conflict.

Putin has four identical private jets and they are all readied for departure as soon as knowledge of an international flight is public, with three acting as decoys.

The specific plane to be used by Putin is not known until take-off.

After the choice is made, either one or all three of the remaining planes follow the president as back-up.

And he can call upon 68 fighter jets from the special Russian Aerospace Forces to repel attacks.

Photographs of the interiors were leaked onto the internet several years ago and caused outrage among Russian citizens.

A blogger calling himself Kungurov who first published the pictures after getting hold of them from a contact in Russia’s Ministry of Defence fumed: ‘Our self-proclaimed Tsar has decided to give himself a gift on his 15th anniversary of assuming the crown by whipping his slaves into paying for two luxurious IL-96 airliners for him.’

President Trump’s jet – the private airliner of the US president

Air Force One is the name of any United States Air Force aircraft carrying the president of the US at any time.

And Donald Trump relies primarily on two identical customized planes, both heavily modified Boeing 747-200B models.

Trump has substantial living space on board. With a cabin area of nearly 4,000-sq-ft, it includes a bedroom, bathroom, gym and offices.

One of the most important areas of the jet is the president’s Situation Room.

It was in this room where President George W. Bush held crisis talks on 9/11 when Air Force One was ordered to scramble him to safety after fears it would come under attack.

Opposite the President’s chair, at the other end of the room, is a giant TV screen that can beam him live into the White House Situation Room or be used to address the American people.

Under the TV are three digital clocks. They permanently display the same three times – Washington DC, local time and time in the next destination.

An on-board kitchen and chef ensure the President can eat whatever he wants, at any time of day or night, all delivered perfectly cooked and piping hot.

And when DailyMail.com editor-at-large Piers Morgan recently boarded Air Force One to interview President Trump, he also discovered the plane has a selection of sweet treats on offer including Hershey’s Kisses chocolates and specially designed boxes of presidential M&Ms complete with Donald Trump’s signature on the back.

And, according to Business Insider, there are also mirror ball missile deflectors embedded in the wings of the plane should the aircraft come under attack.

The aircraft is also equipped with a medical suite that acts as a fully functional operating room.

There is a separate area for the accompanying news reporters. Altogether, the presidential aircraft is capable of comfortably accommodating 70 passengers and 26 crew members.

The width of the fuselage is 6.5 metres while its wingspan in 65 metres. It is over 70 metres long and has a maximum speed of over 600mph.

Following the assassination of John F. Kennedy (pictured), Lyndon Johnson took the oath of office on board Air Force One

Capable of refueling midair – as seen in the Harrison Ford film, Air Force One – the Boeing 747-200B aircraft have unlimited range and don’t need to land for days at a time.

The president’s plane has long been a symbol of American power and the setting for historic moments, including the sombre 1963 ceremony when Lyndon Johnson took the oath of office on board – hours after the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

The Pentagon had considered upgrading Air Force One with the A380 made by European aerospace giant Airbus, but opted instead to continue using aircraft designed by home-grown Boeing.
