Woman tries to open emergency exit door while plane was mid air

In something similar to an incident that happened in China few years ago, a woman was arrested on Monday after she tried to open emergency exit door while plane was mid air.

The incident happened shortly after the plane departed from Indianapolis International Airport for Detroit.

Terrified passengers who saw what she was doing quickly restrained her until the flight landed at about 6.45pm on Monday.

A spokesperson for Detroit Metropolitan Airport, Erica Donerson, said the woman may have been suffering from medical issue. A preliminary investigation found she did not have criminal intent, said Erica Donerson.

On Tuesday a spokesperson for the FBI said no federal charges would be filed against the passenger.

The management of Republic Airline which operate the flight apologized to affected customers on Tuesday.

A spokesperson told the Detroit Free Press:

“We’re aware of an incident which occurred on our flight 5972 on Monday evening.

While we can confirm that the flight landed without incident and ahead of schedule, we’re unable to further comment as this matter is still being investigated.

We apologize to any passengers who were affected by this incident.”

In something similar to this, a 50-year-old Chinese woman fed up with long line at the toilet inside Plane went looking for another toilet and ended up opening the cabin door, the emergency slide deployed! The incident happened two years ago.
