A Louisiana postman was fatally shot on Saturday while he was delivering mail, authorities said.

Antonio Williams,52, was gunned down around 11:20 a.m. as he delivered mail to a residence in Shreveport, Louisiana, KSLA news station reported.
He was transported to hospital, but he died an hour later from his injuries, officials said.
Police arrested a suspect, 32-year-old Michael Jerred Gentry, on suspicion of second-degree murder. Gentry also faces charges of battery of a police officer, resisting an officer and theft.

Police say they don’t believe any dispute occurred between the two men before the incident.

Antonio Williams was a mail delivery man for 17 years and loved his job, his family said.
He is survived by his wife, seven children and 13 grandchildren.
