Following the groping allegation on Sunday, Oscar-winning actor, Cuba Gooding Jr. turned himself in to New York police on Thursday. The police charged him of misdemeanor and forcible touching, and one count of sexual abuse in the third degree. Gooding pleaded not guilty to all the charges. He was released without bail.
As we reported yesterday, trouble started when a 29-year-old woman called 911 Sunday night June 9, stating that the actor grabbed her breast while they were socializing around 9 p.m. at the Magic Hour Rooftop Bar and Lounge on 7th Avenue in Midtown. She also alleged that Gooding was “highly intoxicated” at that time, after the alleged grab, she got into an argument with him that had to be broken up by security.
However, Security camera footage of the incident emerged on Friday June 14. The footage, which was obtained by TMZ, shows Gooding at the Magic Hour Rooftop Bar and Lounge in Midtown last Sunday with girlfriend Claudine De Niro. The footage also shows when the accuser came and sat down next to them.
Prior to the release of the video to public, Gooding’s attorney, Mark Heller, has long maintained that his client is not guilty:
“I have to tell you, I’ve viewed almost two hours of video, and it does not reveal one scintilla of criminal conduct, not even something ambiguous that could be misinterpreted,” Heller said. “They have extensive video. We’ve reviewed it all. It shows this woman almost stalking him, following him around,” he said.
