Phil Milani joined Ryan Edwards and Andrew Mason on 1st & 10 on Orange Blue 760, and they looked at the Broncos current QB situation. The premise of the dating pool, and getting back out there is an interesting one. Paxton Lynch was supposed to be that forever guy. First round draft picks should have an immediate impact, and missing on one can be a huge setback. When Lynch didn’t work out, it made the Broncos gun shy about drafting a QB.There were several issues in play with Lynch. Trevor Siemian played a huge part in that. He was the side chick that slid into that starting roll. He didn’t work out either, and Denver found themselves rebounding with Case Keenum. Not the best rebound. Now Joe Flacco is supposed to help get the Broncos over their QB woes.Maybe the draft is a place that Denver can start trying to get back into the QB swing. As Milani said, unless the Broncos are in love with a QB, (think Drew Lock or Dwayne Haskins) they should avoid taking one with the 10th pick. Mase thinks Denver could grab a mid-round QB to help ease them back into things. That’s a terrible idea (no offense Mase). The last thing Denver needs at this point is a project. When Denver finally takes another QB in the draft, he has to be the Broncos future. There can be no question one way or the other about it. He must be considered the QB of the future and treated as such. At this point, a project just distracts from the needs of the team. If you aren’t picking a first round QB of future, there is no reason to take one in the mid to late rounds of the draft either.Bonus ListenBradley Chubb took questions after the Broncos workout. Report: Broncos will have a pre-draft visit with Western Illinois defensive tackle, Khalen SaundersChuck Cook-USA TODAY SportsAccording to reports Bradley Chubb Jersey White , the Denver Broncos with hold a top-30 pre-draft visit/workout with former Western Illinois defensive tackle, Khalen Saunders. Saunder is a 6’0”, 324lb defensive tackle who is one of the more interesting prospects in the 2019 NFL Draft. He ran a 5.01 40-time during the Combine, had 27 reps on the bench press, and is just a freaky athlete for a man of his size. At the Reese’s Senior Bowl, not only did Saunders dominate that week, he also showed off his athleticism by doing a front flip and a backflip. This past year for Western Illinois, Saunders totaled 72 tackles, 13 tackles for a loss, 6.5 sacks, and 1 forced fumble, He showed off his explosive traits and routinely was in the opponents backfield. Here’s what NFL Network’s Lance Zierlein had to say about Saunders in his scouting report on the athletic defensive tackle. The Broncos currently have a need at nose tackle after allowing Domata Peko hit free agency and haven’t signed anyone to fill that role as of yet. Peko could return, and even then, a player like Saunders should be drafted to develop behind him and eventually take over next season or even sometime throughout the 2019 season. Saunder’s versatility should help him see some playing time as well. He’s an explosive player who can rush the passer from the inside which should give him a shot at some sub-package playing time early in his rookie year. Saunders is one of my favorite prospects in this draft and i’m pretty excited that the Broncos are showing interest in him. I can see Saunders going anywhere between day two and early day three of the 2019 NFL draft.
